Obituary for Jonny E. Cloud

Jonny E. Cloud, of Hereford, Texas, passed away Monday, February 18th at the age of 81.

Mr. Cloud was born March 3rd, 1937 to Paul and Geneva Avis (Bartley) Cloud in Dalhart, Texas.

Jonny studied Business Administration at Taft Junior College in Taft, California, Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, and at the University of Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas—attending all of them on a football scholarship, a sport he played for all five years of his college education. He then served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps for four years from 1960 to 1963. After an honorable discharge, he came to Hereford in 1964 to work at the original First National Bank. He met the love of his life, Judith Anne Kriegshauser in the fall of that year and the two were married on June 12, 1965 at St. Anthony’s Church.

Mr. Cloud lived his life as a man dedicated to his family and to God. He enjoyed camping with his family in New Mexico every year. He ministered to his fellows as president of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship for five years, meeting together twice a month. He was also a member of the Ecumenical Ministerial Alliance where he took part in weekly prayer and civic projects. He kept himself fit for his work with a run that he was sure to get in each day. Shortly before his retirement from the bank in 1991, he was ordained a Deacon of the Catholic Church in 1988 and further dedicated himself to serve his faith and his community. He was present for every event and service at the Church, ran the weekly parish prayer group, and started the Saturday Mass Choir. He is fondly remembered for his servant’s heart which he offered to every one of every faith.

Mr. Cloud is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Avis Cloud. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Judith Anne, his sister Paula Seim of Lubbock, Texas, his three children Bradley Arrington Cloud of Canyon, Texas, Melissa and husband Dan Rhoades of Lantana, Texas, and Stephen and wife Lindsey Cloud of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Kyla Marie Cloud of Canyon, Texas, Brandon Anthony Cloud of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mason Wayne, Caroline Grace Rhoades of Lantana, Texas, and Allie Reese Bryant of Dallas, Texas, and one great-grandchild Abrielle Sage Caballero. Also surviving him are aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all of whom love and will miss him greatly.
