Maria Cantu

Maria Cantu, 54, longtime Hereford resident, died April 27, 2009 at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

A prayer service is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Thursday, April 30, 3009 in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Armando Pinales, Pastor of Victory Church, Hereford will officiate.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2009 at Victory Church, 3824 N. Hwy 385, Hereford. Rev. Armando Pinales, Pastor of Victory Church, Hereford will officiate. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E. 6th Street, Hereford.

Maria was born January 17, 1955 in Deming, New Mexico to Margarito and Ignacia Cantu Reyes. She moved to Hereford in 1980 from Raymondville, Texas. She married the love of her life Gregory Cantu on July 15, 1993 in Hereford. Maria was a Christian and a homemaker. She loved her family and the host of many friends in her life circle. She will be dearly missed by all.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of the home, four daughters, Hilda Contreras, Sylvia Luna, Oralia Zallar, Sammie Jo Guajardo, one son, Michael Zallar, three step daughters, Patricia Cantu of Hereford, Carolyn Cantu, Fala Badillo both of Edinburg, TX, four brothers, Ramon Reyes, Juan Reyes all of Hereford, Reynaldo Reyes of La Feria, TX, Jose Luis Reyes (Her Twin Brother) of Harlingen, TX, three sisters, Juana Ramos of Raymondville, TX, Guadalupe Bella, Manuela Berumen of Hereford, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren.

Family suggest memorials to the Victory Church, c/o Rev. Armando Pinales, 430 Star, Hereford, Texas 79045 or charity of choice.
